News from Nikos Economopoulos (Νίκος Οικονομόπουλος) International
Facebook Fan Page (5) 19.03.10.

Nikos loves children and children love him. We know about it and we see it on videos and photos. (the picture from "Nikos Oikonomopoulos AYTO TO ASTERI' site is a beautiful evidence of this relationship!)

"Live me alone with my madness" The song from the first album of Nikos "First Love" (2007)
Music by Vasilis Keladis, words by Panos Falaras.
This is a Greek male dance - zeibekiko, one of the most popular genres in laika music. Song is represented by Renata’s video

At our page you can find out how the song 'Aste me stin trela mou" brought us to Jerusalem (from the link to Blogger’s article)

Another link - from Youtube is a perfect Udi Saleas' (Israel) interpretation of Niko's song

On the top we give you our translation of the song “Aste me stin trela mou” in English – this is what our note of the day is about.

This portrait of Nikos, which is the best photo of the day, is a result of a great job by Konstantina Galani (she took this picture) and Christos Fragos (he made out of it a unique portrait of Nikos Economopoulos) The shot was done at the club "Fix" (Athens) on the 8th of April, 2009. Edited on the 18th of March 2010

Amazing video from Youtube! Enjoy the exquisite beauty of the song 'One Soul Said to Me' by Christos Papadopoulos (music)and Eleni Giannatsoulia (words) from the last album by Nikos. Soon we will provide you with a translation of the poetry.

Udi Saleas is bringing Nikos' songs to Jerusalem!

One of the signs of a singer’s popularity is when his songs are covered by other performers!
Amazing Israeli singer Udi Saleas is promoting Nikos Economopoulos by creating perfect interpretations of the songs the young Greek star is singing.

Udi Saleas was born to a musical family in Jerusalem and from his early years dedicated himself to Greek music. He mastered bouzouki and learned a lot of Greek laika (popular) songs. His performances are loved by the public in Israel and his three albums are also appreciated by Greek music lovers.

Extremely gifted, Udi attracted the attention of Paschalis Terzis while singing together with the Greek song legend in Paschalis' club in July of 2008. Udi’s powerful and beautiful voice, as well as his great musicianship, were instrumental in him being invited to be an equal part in the duet with Paschalis Terzis.

Some samples of Udi singing songs from Nikos Economopoulos’ repertoire are available on You Tube, so anyone can see and listen to his interpretations of "Ase me stin trela mou" and "Koita na maitheneis".

The last number is a very original version of a song, which is arranged as a duet together with another Israeli singer Doron Elimelech. Some extra ornaments and slightly different turns of the tune add to this hit by Kapiris/Theodorou some oriental touches.
Another sample, zembeikiko "Ase me stin trela mou" (Kelaidis/Falaras), also faithfully represented in Udi's interpretation, which was recorded live and impresses with the exactness of its performance.

Udi Saleas covers songs by many Greek singers, but I decided to limit my observations to those mentioned in this note, which demonstrate the growing popularity of Nikos Economopoulos. I wish Udi big success in his career and hope he will sing more hits from Niko's repertoire.
And, who knows, maybe one day these two singers will sing something together!

P.S. I am very grateful to Eirini Eusebi for attracting my attention to Udi Saleas, a great singer from Jerusalem, and to Theo Simeonidis for his editing work!
My special gratitude to a great musical critic and my teacher Vladimir Kaluzhsky!
